Daily Tarot Card: Sept. 19, 2020

Nine of Pentacles from the Herbal Tarot by Michael Tierra and Candis Cantin.

You know it’s going to be a good day when the Nine of Pentacles shows up in your reading.

The card of self-sufficiency, the Nine of Pentacles represents a woman in solitude enjoying the finer things in life.

This woman knows the difference between being alone and being lonely, and she is at peace as she takes stock in her life, noting with gratitude the abundance that surrounds her – good friends, a healthy family, material comforts and a sense of accomplishment for using talents and resources wisely.

With all the fulfillment the Nine of Pentacles represents, the woman longs wistfully for someone to share her life with — a friend, a companion, a lover. Soon, she will pursue that 10th pentacle, a card of happy and fulfilled generations of family. For today, however, she will relish the lush, green pastures of her life.

Whether you are male or female, when the Nine of Pentacles shows up in your reading, it is time to appreciate how far you have come and the life of abundance you have created through hard work and diligence. Send up prayers of gratitude today for all that you have and for the rich blessings that surround you.

Daily Tarot Card: Sept. 18, 2020

Knight of Pentacles from The Herbal Tarot by Michael Tierra and Candis Cantin.

Knights always mean something new is coming into your life. Sometimes, that’s a person and sometimes it’s an experience.

In addition to getting a clue as to what’s coming in from the other cards around the Knight, the card’s suit offers some insight.

Pentacles are the suit of material things – food, clothing, shelter, money, jobs, business ventures, education, etc. — those practical earthly considerations that keep us alive and safe during our human incarnation.

When the Knight of Pentacles enters your life, it brings tangible progress toward a material goal. You may receive good news about a job or other source of prosperity or money may come in from an unexpected source.

Of all the knights, the Knight of Pentacles is the slowest moving, so it often means financial success comes through slow and steady progress

The Hermit from The Herbal Tarot deck by Michael Tierra and Candis Cantin

Interesting that The Hermit card should show up today as our Daily Tarot Card.

The major arcana card for Virgo, (we are still in Virgo season) The Hermit represents a time of seeking solitude from the rest of the world.

Many world religions have encouraged their spiritual leaders to embrace a life of quiet reflection and solitude. Like the Buddhist monks in the Borobudur Temple or the cloistered Carthusian nuns in France, going within to reconnect with the divine brings inner peace and helps us find our path. Being in a place of contemplative solitude helps the seeker hear the guidance from Spirit without other worldly distractions.

When The Hermit card shows up in a reading, it’s time to retreat from the rest of the world; to be diligent about meditation practices, and listen to your inner voice. Once you find the answers from within, you can shine your brilliant light as a beacon for others.

Daily Tarot: Sept. 16, 2020

The Emperor from The Herbal Tarot by Michael Tierra and Candis Cantin.

The card of father order, control and power, The Emperor shows up when it’s time to establish yourself out in the world.

This could mean you have reached the age of maturity and leaving home for the first time, but it could also mean you are starting a new business venture.

Whatever the reason for harnessing the power of The Emperor, it means you have the ability to use rational thought and to direct action toward the achievement of your goals.

You may receive a job promotion or you may need to deal with someone in authority, but you have the strength and the determination to act responsibly and organize a structural, stable environment.

Notice The Emperor is a number 4. Four is the number of stability and foundations. It’s the number of laying foundations for achievement in the material world.

If The Emperor is not asking you to use rational thought to establish yourself in the world, you might meet someone of get advice from someone who has this ability.

Four of Swords from The Herbal Tarot by Michael Tierra and Candis Cantin

When a four shows up in your reading, it’s not a time to move forward. It’s not a time to assert yourself. It’s not a time for change.

Four is, in fact, the number of standing still, of stagnation, of building foundations through persistence and hard work.

The Four of Swords comes up in your reading when you need to take a time out. It’s a card of resting after a period of hard work or a particular struggle.

The Four of Swords is also the card of self-care. As a daily tarot card, the message is go to the spa today. Spend the afternoon doing yoga or tai chi. Indulge in a lazy day at the beach with a good book. Spend the day in bed if you need to.

In essence, this card is saying you’re a little under the weather or your batteries are worn down. Time to rest and relax and recharge. So you can live to fight another day.

Be kind to yourself today! Namaste.

The Eight of Pentacles from the Herbal Tarot by Michael Tierra and Candis Cantin

The card of apprenticeship, Eight of Pentacles suggests it’s a good time to focus on what you love when it comes to vocation and avocation.

When you do something you are passionate about, you become absorbed in it. So absorbed, in fact, when the money starts rolling in you don’t even notice it.

So many traditions have advised “following your bliss” and not worrying about making a living. It’s a hard concept for people in the Western world, and particularly Americans, to embrace. We have been taught, mostly through Christian churches, that life is about suffering, duty and hard work.

When I started following the teachings of Abraham Hicks (“Ask and It Is Given”) and got turned onto other modern-day philosophers like Neale Donald Walsh (“Conversations With God”), Jack Canfield (“Chicken Soup for the Soul”), Brian L. Weiss (“Many Lives, Many Masters”), Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle (“The Power of Now”) etc., etc., etc., it was hard to believe that life was supposed to be about fun and joy.

I am a work in progress when it comes to embracing this philosophy that rings so true to my soul. I have many years of conditioning to overcome, but I plan to keep practicing until it’s second nature to do what I love.
